2007 Knitting (and Life) overview

Well, I was planning on pretending that its been 2008 for more than 3 days, and wasn’t going to do a New Years post but then Shells tagged me and I figured this would be fun to do. So I am, but I’m adding a wee little thing (fun life stuff!):

 In 2007, I:

  •  Got married
  • Lost almost 20 pounds (and this is IN SPITE OF being the laziest person I know, hands down, next to my cat and dogs who are biologicaly inclined to sleep all day)
  • Quit my job of 7 years
  • Quit a job of 5 weeks
  • Did my own thing for a while
  • Got a new job, literally 10 days before the end of the year (!)
  • Restarted my languishing blog
  • Reconnected with some old friends
  • Made some new ones!

 In 2007, I knit:

  • 2 pairs of Fetching
  • 1 pair of Broad Street mittens
  • 1 Swallowtail
  • 1 Tuscany
  • 1 Caliometry
  • 1 One-Row Scarf
  • 8 or 9 pairs of socks (and 5 half pairs)
  • 1 Noro Clapotis
  • 1 baby kimono

I also started about 27 projects, including 6 pairs of “thrown back” socks, Juno Regina Shawl, the (dreaded) Myrtle leaf shawl, the bonsai tunic, the tilted duster, this shrug thing I never showed anyone, and a bunch of stuff that never made it past the swatching phase. Everything but the Juno Regina Shawl, the Tilted Duster and the Shrug thing are going back into the yarn pile.

1.  Best FO of the year….
I have to say its my Swallowtail that I made for someone, but haven’t yet sent to them (D’oh!)
2.  Best FO of the year made by a blog you link to….
Oh crap, I think….oh….um…..crap. You guys all do such nice work.
3.   Best yarn you tried.
Ok, asking me to figure out what is the best is like asking me to pick my favorite kitten or bunny. I AM quite partial to misti alpaca (all sizes) though.
4.  Best new book/mag/pattern of 2007.
I’d have to go with 101 Designer One Skein Patterns, which is (IMHO) heads and tails above the original.
5. Best new knitting technique or gadget
Doing toe-up socks.
6.  Top 5 inspirations – what 5 things inspired me the most over the past year.

7.  Designer who most amazed & inspired you throughout the year

Honestly, mostly what inspires me is not a designer, but the wide variety of available stuff out there – and the fact that you can just find anything on the internet and the “fix” – funny, but its inspired me to be MORE self sufficient in figuring out my knitting problems.
8.  Knitting resolutions for 2008 – what’s next for you and your blog.
For me (knitting):
  • Knit a pair of knee socks
  • Finish my UFOs
  • Design and make a sweater I’ve been thinking about
  • Write down those patterns I make up
  • Get good decent at Fair Isle

For me (non-knitting):

  • Go back to school
  • Cook more stuff
  •  Stop taking work so seriously

For my blog:

  • Research super secret article series I’m thinking about – and write them
  • Start that podcast up again
  • Don’t not post

And there you have it. Since I’ve been offline for  awhile, there’s some other stuff I’ll cover, but in another post.

  1. Woot! I didn’t know if you had noticed or not. I hate to poke people into doing memes so I just watch and see if they notice. Of course, it is like flattery if they do!

    Knee socks…..I haven’t thought about that yet….
*Shells wanders off to ponder knee socks*

  2. Well, today is the first day I’ve been back on the blog! :) So I was happy to do it! However, I really want to make knee socks – unfortunatly, the last time I tried I “figured out” the increases myself….NOT pretty. AT. All.

I’ll do them if you will!

  3. Not Fair! You’d use so much less yarn and have to knit so much less than me!

I’ll do yours if you do mine ;)

  4. Hahaha. Hey, just because my feet are small doesn’t mean that there’s not a lot of room between the ground and my knee. :P

  5. I’m glad blogging more is on your to-do list. I’ve enjoyed reading your blog the past several months since we became “Ravelry friends.”

  6. Thanks Sarah! :) I enjoy reading yours too! (Which reminds me that I also need to expand my blogroll!)
